EXTRACTS FROM THE SCHOOL LOG 1922

1922, 3rd August – The school treat took place today. Some 64 parents and scholars journeyed to Lee-on-Solent, where a delighted number of scholars took their first glimpse of the sea and the Isle-of-Wight.

EXTRACTS FROM THE SCHOOL LOG BOOK 1926-33

1926, 20th January – The Snow was very deep and the children living on the Common could not get through the drifts to the main roads.
1932, 6th April – Tree felling has commenced in the school ground to clear a site for the enlargement of the present school buildings, the children were taken to watch the tree felling.
1933, 9th & 10th March – Senior boys in groups of fours have worked on the woodland patch for periods of one hour, in order to prepare the soil and plant gifts of daffodils, primroses, fern and bluebells, and also plant small shrubs alongside the ragged hedgerow. (continued)

The senior girls also asked to be allowed to help during recreation and lunchtime. The whole school are very keen on their nature gardens. The two beds around the trees have been bright with many snowdrops and crocuses for several weeks. The older boys have given up much time in order to dig soil ready for planting.
