The school was established in 1876 and we are delighted to remain a central part of the local community. We are fortunate to enjoy large grounds which we continue to develop to enhance children’s learning and enjoyment. We truly believe that children are at the heart of everything we do and as a result pupil voice and involvement is integral to our ethos. Collectively, we are very proud of our school, all that we achieve together and the fun we have along the way. Our motto “happy, valued and achieving together” is one we feel applies to all of us and is something we are constantly striving for. It is hard to give a flavour of any school in a few short paragraphs and therefore we extend an open invitation to you to visit at any time.

The school is situated in extensive and attractive grounds in a semi-rural village between Romsey and Southampton. We are a caring, learning community where the contribution of every individual – pupils, staff and parents - is valued. We continually strive to offer a stimulating curriculum that encourages the achievement of both high academic and personal standards, enabling all children to realise their potential and become confident, independent learners who also understand the value of team effort. We ensure that academic standards are as high as they can be, yet also believe in educating the whole child and therefore offer a range of sporting, musical and cultural experiences both within and outside the curriculum. We try to work in close partnership with parents to secure the best education for their child. We are a very happy school and our children are noted for their good behaviour, delightful manners and self-confidence.
Oue motto is “Where Care, Co-operation and Challenge Count”.

The school is located on the eastern edge of Romsey, Hampshire, a town of approximately 18,000 people. The Mountbatten School was opened in 1969. It was built on land formerly in the ownership of the Earl Mountbatten's Broadlands Estate, and was fortunate to enjoy the personal patronage of Lord Louis and, with his specific approval, adopted his crest as the School Emblem. Principle among Lord Louis' tenets was the pursuit of excellence and this is a key philosophy of the school. Since its opening, the school has been extended progressively, and is housed entirely in purpose-built accommodation, with excellent specialist facilities in all areas.
Mountbatten is both a traditional and contemporary school. Our values are encapsulated in our motto ‘We care, we respect, we achieve' and so the promotion of honesty, reliability, commitment and pride in self and one's work is central to our mission. Our curriculum, currently under review, is increasingly dynamic and designed to prepare our young people for a rapidly changing world.
