Your health is probably the most important thing there is and yet so many people seem to disregard it. Unfortunately nobody can go through life without facing hazards, such as accidents or illness and if you happen to be descended from a healthy, long-lived family you can be considered as being one of the lucky ones. However that doesn’t mean that by not living a healthy lifestyle you still be the lucky one. On the whole we have to accept that sometime in our lives accidents will happen, some will be our fault and with others we will be the innocent victims but some illnesses can be avoided. We all know that good housing, a congenial job, good fresh food, plenty of sleep, fresh air, exercise, rest, recreation and cleanliness are aids to our health and by avoiding the hazards such as smoking, alcohol, obesity, and stress we can increase the odds of reducing illness in our lives.
We have choices but we should make every effort to find out what the risks are and take action or face the possibility of serious illness and a shortened life. Life should be enjoyed and we should not concentrate on illness but by learning how to maintain our bodies we can do a lot to help ourselves then life becomes more enjoyable, as well as longer lasting.

Be aware that it is often more difficult to examine and/or perform a range of investigations on patients seen at home than in the surgery. Should this prove to be the case, the patient will be encouraged to attend the surgery.
