VILLAGE ENVIRONMENT/RECYCLING

Our environment consists of the physical surroundings and conditions that affect our lives and the circumstances of where we live.

We all make an impact on the environment we live in and we should all aim to be environmentally responsible to reduce that impact as much as we can and we can do that here in North Baddesley. By making small changes everyone can improve the environment for others and it can make a big difference to your lives.

North Baddesley is a pleasant and popular place to live so WHY? do some people drop litter everywhere they go? Why? It seems pretty simple to me to put litter back into the recycling loop and that’s just what everyone should do. One could argue that part of the reason that there is so much litter on our streets is down to the lack of bins provided. Yes, to some degree I can go along with that. Okay, so there aren’t enough public places to deposit rubbish so it’s quite straightforward really, just take it home with you and dispose of it and there. Remember it’s also an offence to drop litter in the street and you can be prosecuted for doing so. Who wants to walk their local streets, countryside and shoreline and see discarded litter everywhere they go?

Remember live by the phrase:

The REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE LOGO

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!

The majority of street litter that is collected is recyclable. There are lots of glass bottles, paper products, plastics, and aluminum cans that litter our streets lands and waters. Removing this litter also prevents wildlife injury and restores the natural beauty of our environment. Recycling this litter also ensures that it doesn’t end up in a landfill site.
In an effort to reduce litter throughout the area contact your local councilors and ask if they can apply pressure on the County Council to improve on the three R’s and let them know that you will support action with regards to recycling.

We create the problem but there is a solution. Humans generate a staggering amount of rubbish everyday. Disposable products are some of the prime culprits and can be easily avoided in favour of products that require less or no packaging. The over packaging of products is what ends up on the street, countryside and on the beach. These bottles, cans, wrappers etc. spoil the outdoor experience for people and often pose health and safety risks for wildlife. Its important to keep this litter out of all areas but equally important to reduce our dependence on these packages.

Remember, its
1) Reduce, 2) Reuse, and 3) Recycle

(in that order)!

Help make NORTH BADDESLEY our small part of planet Earth a cleaner and better place to live by having respect for the village surroundings and other villagers. Also dog owners are reminded of their responsibilities with regard to dog fouling and must remove their dog’s mess and place in a dog bin or dispose of it at home. Throwing it into a nearby hedge or placing it next to a nearby lamppost is not acceptable.

If caught disregarding the laws on dog fouling, owners could be prosecuted and the Maximum Penalty is £100.
