Things you might not know about guiding Girlguiding UK has half a million members aged 4 to 25 and 100,000 adult members. Girlguiding UK is the founder member of the world association of girls Guides and Girls Scouts, which is the largest youth organisation for girls in the world with more than ten million members in 144 countries.

One in seven six-year old girls are Rainbows. Around a quarter of all eight-year olds are Brownies. One in ten 11 year-olds are Guides. While tying knots and singing round the campfire are not confined to history, we also do things from abseiling, party planning to survival. Above all else we have fun in a place where girls can be girls! The 500,00 girls would fill 8333 double-decker buses. They would fill more than 1,200 Boeing 747 Jumbo Jets. If all those girls held hands they would reach 850 km, which would stretch round the M25 four and half times!

More than 50% of the female population in the UK today have been in guiding at some point in their life and for most it was a positive experience. In North Baddesley we have 24 Guides and over 30 on our waiting list—enough for another unit! Very often the only thing stopping more girls joining is adult help. So how about making it possible for more girls to have fun and help create the memories that will last a lifetime. You are assured of a warm welcome.
